VIDEO: Handmade Holiday 2015: Day 1 ~ CTMH Edition Santa in Watercolor

Good evening!  I hope you all are enjoying your extra hour on this first day of November!  I cannot believe how quickly the time is flying by!  Today I have the first project in my Handmade Holiday video series to share with you.  My hope is to have 12 videos in this series, however, my family is taking a vacation to DisneyWorld this month (I can hardly contain myself!!!) so I will be gone for two weeks but I'll try my best to stay on schedule!

For today's card, I am using the super cute Reindeer Bells stamp set from Close to My Heart.  This set has some absolutely adorable images to color and I thought it would be a great way to use my brand new Close to My Heart watercolors.  I have only ever watercolored using my Distress Inks so this was a fun learning adventure for me as I got acquainted with these paints and how they work.

I was pleasantly surprised by how vivid and opaque the colors were when I applied them to my cardstock.  Obviously, you can water them down for a completely different look but I tend to prefer a drier watercolor technique with lots of bright color.  The CTMH watercolor set has 36 colors so I was really able to do a lot of fun shading on my piece.

I couldn't resist turning this into a little frame shaker card and I love how the CTMH cranberry cardstock looks shining through the shaker.  For a full video tutorial, click the link below.  I've also listed and linked all of the supplies that I used to create this card if you're interested in anything that you see.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon for Day 2 of my Handmade Holiday series!  Bye!
